The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® is an annual
balloon festival and race in Albuquerque, NM that will
take place October 4-12 this year. The Balloon Fiesta
is the most recognized festival of its kind, and is
widely considered the most photographed event in the
world.
From its modest gathering of 13 balloons in 1972, the Balloon Fiesta has grown to become the largest balloon festival in the world with upwards of 600 hot air and gas balloons. On any given day during the festival, tens of thousands of guests may be on the launch field where they are provided the rare opportunity to observe inflation and take off procedures. Countless more people gather at landing sites all over the city to watch incoming balloons. This an event that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. Balloons of every shape and size, many from countries all around the world floating amid the backdrop of the Sandia Mountains. It creates some of the most magnificent photo opportunities imaginable.
